Welcome to my website!
I am currently the teacher of the self-contained class grades kindergarten through third grade at School 8. I have been a teacher in Belleville since 2005. My first year I was the resource teacher for School 8 and the Middle School. Since then I have been the self-contained teacher at 8. I completed my undergrad degree in Elementary Education/Special Education/Preschool at Seton Hall University. I obtained a masters degree in Education with a specialization in Language Arts.
Teaching has always been my passion. There is no greater gift than to see a child learn. In my classroom there are no "mistakes", just "do-overs". I teach my students to their ability levels, so there is no frustration in my classroom. I want your child to leave my classroom with a love for learning.
My philosophy of education focuses on the students and their needs. They must see their own potential. I want to encourage determination with respect for reality. In all fields of education, but particularly in special education, students need to be taught how to ignore insults, cross boundaries set by the outside world, and find their own ways. I strive to provide my students with multiple perspectives, expose them to many cultures, help them understand that the more they learn the more they will able to think for themselves, and how to use what they have learned in the classroom and apply it to their own lives. My job is to provide each student with the best possible chance of success in my classroom and in the world outside.
"The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires" -William Arthur Ward
