Ms. Spina- Grade 3

About Me:
My name is Ms. Spina, and I am a Third Grade Math and Social Studies teacher at School 8. I was born and raised in Belleville, and I attended School 8!  I recently obtained a Master’s Degree in Special Education from Kean University. This is my eighth year teaching, and I love what I do!

Multiplication

Hello parents/guardians,
 
The students were introduced to various strategies to help them understand multiplication of whole numbers this week! Please review enVision Math Topics 1-1, 1-2, and 1-3 with your child. Remind him or her that multiplication is an operation that gives the total number when you join equal groups. The students reviewed multiplication as repeated addition, multiplication on a number line, and arrays and multiplication. Next week we will continue to review multiplication and we will also begin division! Thank you for all you do!

Division: Week of September 19th-23rd

The students started Division this past week. Please review Lesson 1-5, pgs. 31-34 at home! Remind your child that division is an operation that tells how many equal groups there are or how many in each group. It would be beneficial for your child to draw a picture to help him or her identify how objects can be divided into equal groups. You can also act out the problems at home! We will continue with Division on Monday! Have a great weekend!
